Halifax County Industrial Development Authority board members supported submission of a $1.3 million tobacco commission economic development application to continue rehabilitation of the former Daystrom Furniture facility now known as Green View Advanced Manufacturing Center.

SoBo company manufactures audio visual dome bound for Florida

After nearly eight weeks of manufacturing, Lindstrand USA inflated its first audio visual (AV) dome Tuesday at its plant on Parker Road in South Boston before the dome is sent to Orlando, Fla., for use in a laser show event for the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions to be held in November.

Students compete in International Woodworking Fair

Halifax County High School seniors Dustin Meadors and Shonque’l Betts recently returned from competing in the WoodLINKS Ready to Assemble competition at the International Woodworking Fair in Atlanta, Ga. A third member of the design team, Jared Owen, is a freshman at Liberty University and was unable to make the trip to Atlanta because of classes. 

Animal nutrition specialist to talk at Goats Galore

Dr. Jeannette Moore, professor and undergraduate teaching coordinator, Department of Animal Science, North Carolina State University, will be a featured speaker at Goats Galore Field Day Saturday at the Halifax County Ag Center. 

Dominion Foundation awards grant to SVHEC

The Dominion Foundation has awarded the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center a $45,000 grant for workforce development. The Dominion Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Dominion Resources (NYSE:D), of which Dominion Virginia Power is a subsidiary.
