Former county resident earns appointment in health system

Danville Regional Medical Center and Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County recently announced new appointments within the organization.

Missy Neff Gould — a former Halifax county resident — has been appointed Market Director for Community and Government Relations and assumed her new role effective Monday.   In this position, Gould will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on legislation and public policies at the local, state and federal levels and will be the chief advisor to the organization on related matters. She also will be responsible for leading community engagement and outreach activities. 

Most recently, Gould served as principal for 360 Public Affairs in Danville which provided state and local legislative government affairs services. Prior to that, she served as vice president of government affairs for CRT/Tanaka in Richmond and before that vice president for McGuire Woods Consulting LLC in Richmond, a full service public affairs firm offering infrastructure and economic development, strategic communications and grassroots and government relations services. 

Most notably, Gould served as assistant secretary of Natural Resources under then Governor Timothy Kaine.  

Gould holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Meredith College, Raleigh, N.C., and is a graduate of the Sorenson Institute in Charlottesville. She is active throughout the region currently serving as chair, Virginia Museum of Natural History Board of Trustees; director, Dan River Business Development Center; director, Virginia Public Access Project Board of Directors; and Legislative Committee Member, Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce.
