Affiliates of Commonwealth Assisted Living, LLC of Charlottesville has acquired Somerset Assisted Living, a 36-unit, 55 bed community in South Boston, as well as an adjacent two acre parcel of land on Sept. 26.
“We are delighted to continue to add quality acquisitions to our family of Virginia assisted living communities and are excited to have the opportunity to serve the residents of South Boston and the surrounding area,” said Richard Brewer, president and CEO of Commonwealth Assisted Living.
The community, located at 435 Hamilton Blvd., South Boston was built in 1998 and has been renamed Commonwealth Assisted Living at South Boston.
Commonwealth has plans to update the community and also will construct a secure Memory Care wing on the adjacent property for its award winning Sweet Memories program.
The South Boston community is the fourth acquisition for Commonwealth in the past nine-month period. The company acquired three communities in Southwestern Virginia with 130 units and 155 beds in December 2012.
These communities, Commonwealth Assisted Living at Abingdon, Commonwealth Memory Care at Cedar Bluff and Commonwealth Assisted Living at Cedar Bluff, are also being updated and expanded.
