The Southern Virginia Higher Education Center (SVHEC) heads to the South Boston Speedway on Saturday, July 20, when it will sponsor the SVHEC NASCAR Late Model/Limited/ T-Pure Stock race.
The 27-year-old institution will use the race to publicly unveil its new logo and tagline.
“We’ve been working for over two years on our rebranding effort,” said SVHEC Communications Manager Hope Harris-Gayles. “Our efforts started with developing a new mission statement, and we’re so excited to unveil our new logo and tagline at our hometown track,” she said.
The SVHEC has been working with local branding and graphic design firm Glerin Business Resources to freshen up its look. “We wanted an update, not a reset,” Harris-Gayles said. “The SVHEC has been in the community for 27 years, and we wanted to honor that history and tradition while having a look that’s fresh and modern. The new logo has a lot of elements of the old one, and we’re very pleased with how it turned out,” she said.
July 20th will be the SVHEC’s first sponsored race at South Boston Speedway. In addition to unveiling the new logo, SVHEC educational partners will be onsite with information about their programs and the career opportunities available in Halifax County.
“We’re hoping to raise awareness about the SVHEC, our college partners, and the variety of educational opportunities available in Halifax County. We want everyone to know they can earn a certificate or degree or get job training from some of the best colleges in the state without stepping one foot outside the county,” said Harris-Gayles.
Gates open at 5 p.m., and the green flag drops at 7 p.m. for the SVHEC NASCAR Late Model/Limited/T-Pure Stock race on July 20.
