Hospital marketing department wins awards

Halifax Regional Health System’s (HRHS) marketing department has received one state award and three national awards, recognizing them for excellence in their advertising/marketing efforts during 2012, the health system announced.

The HRHS marketing department received a superior award in the Virginia Society of Healthcare Marketing and Public Relations Measure of Excellence Awards. 

The award was presented in the External Publication category for their quarterly Life & Health newsletter, which is mailed to more than 31,000 residents in the region and created in coordination with Coffey Communications, Inc., a healthcare agency specializing in healthcare publications.

The department received three national awards through the Aster Awards program, which recognizes excellence in medical marketing. They were presented a silver award in the Internal Newsletter Series category for the HaliScoop, the HRHS employee newsletter. They also received two bronze awards, one in the Single Direct Mail Piece category for their recent mailing, “Heart Care Closer to You,” and another in the Special Events category for the 2012 HRHS Annual Healthy Living EXPO.

The HRHS marketing department shared their bronze award for the direct mailing with Mary Hastings at Hastings Design Corp., a private graphic designer who has worked with the department for many years to create across-the-board branding materials for HRHS.

The HRHS marketing department is made up of Manager Olivia Epps, Marketing Specialist Alyssa Gavitt and Wendy Fuller, also a marketing specialist, who recently retired.
