Retiring DCC president honored by board

The SVHEC Board of Trustees honored Dr. Carlyle Ramsey, president of Danville Community College, for his service to the board at its June meeting.

Ramsey is retiring from his position as president of DCC, and is leaving the SVHEC board effective Aug. 1.

“You’ve been with the SVHEC since the very beginning. We appreciate and want to acknowledge all the time, energy, effort and passion you’ve put forth on our behalf,” said SVHEC Executive Director Dr. Betty H. Adams as she presented him with a custom-made clock produced by the SVHEC’s R&D Center for Advanced Manufacturing & Energy Efficiency.

Speaking on behalf of the board, William E. Coleman thanked Ramsey for his service, loyalty and dedication. He recalled Ramsey’s efforts in the mid-80s to advocate and support the establishment of the SVHEC, “For that, we shall never forget,” Coleman said.

As a token of appreciation, the board of trustees made a donation to the First Baptist Church Youth Fund in honor of Ramsey.

Ramsey thanked the board for their words and acts of appreciation.

“All of us have a special commitment to the citizens of this region, and it’s been a pleasure to work with you. I’ve seen this center go through extraordinary growth and development, and I think its future is even brighter if we all work together.”
