Ollie’s Southern Café has welcomed new addition to its services offering a new mobile hot dog stand.
“I didn’t want to be limited to South Boston. I wanted to kind of expand the circumference in which we can travel with our product to get more exposure,” said Larry Elam, owner of the restaurant.
Ollie’s Mobile Hot Dog Stand has been open for three weeks and is currently located in front of Ollie’s Southern Café on Wilborn Avenue in South Boston. The mobile unit is currently being considered for other locations as well, Elam said.
The hot dog stand is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m everyday except Sunday and is available for special events.
The menu consists of bun length hot dogs, California dogs (a much larger smoked sausage), bologna burgers, extra thick bologna burgers and pulled pork.
Toppings include sautéed onions, lettuce and tomatoes. Elam said he is considering adding 5.3-ounce burgers to the menu also. Customers have the option of having their bun grilled if they choose.
The price for a standard hot dog is $1.25, while a bologna burger is $4. The California dog is $2, and jumbo pork is $5.
Elam said he uses fresh quality meat, and the pork is smoked 12 hours a day.
“We have a talented group of individuals working on this cart,” Elam said of his employees.
