Carlyle R. “Randy” Wimbish, III was elected to the board of directors of the Sands Anderson law firm at the shareholders’ meeting held on Jan. 16, according to firm President L. Lee Byrd.
“Randy’s leadership of the firm’s Healthcare Group has been outstanding,” said Byrd. “Randy is dedicated, thoughtful and fair, and he has an exceptional understanding of the firm’s economics and its strategic plan.”
Wimbish received his B.A. with honors from Virginia Tech and earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. He has spent his entire legal career at Sands Anderson as a member of the firm’s Healthcare Group, and has served as the leader of the group for the past 12 years. He concentrates his practice primarily in the area of medical professional liability defense in courts throughout Virginia.
Wimbish has been listed in Best Lawyers in America since 2010, as one of Virginia’s “Legal Elite” by Virginia Business magazine, and as a Virginia Super Lawyer since 2006. In 2010, he was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
Wimbish also is active in the community, currently serving as secretary of the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys, on the board of directors of the Virginia Tech Athletic Fund and as chair of the Stewardship Task Group at Gayton Baptist Church.
Wimbish is the son of Carlyle and Jo Wimbish of South Boston.
