DPC Pawn & Gun Shop owner Michael Slaughter invites the public to attend the grand opening sale of its South Boston location Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Located on Halifax Road beside Tractor Supply, the DPC Pawn & Gun Shop offers a selection of new and used firearms, instruments, electronics, jewelry and more.
Those attending the grand opening will have a chance to enter a drawing to win a free Keltic P-3at .380, and plenty of great deals also will be available, Slaughter said.
The store hours are Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
DPC Pawn & Gun Shop has been in business for 20 years in Slaughter’s hometown of Roxboro, N.C., and the South Boston location has been open since January.
They previously had a store in downtown South Boston up until 2002 but closed it after the manager had a heart attack leaving them with no one to run the store, he said.
Slaughter said he has wanted to open a store in South Boston ever since, so when the opportunity came to open in Halifax Square shopping center, he snagged it.
The business was founded by Slaughter’s father, Melvin Slaughter, and in 2004, the younger Slaughter bought the business from his dad after working in the business since the age of 13.
So far, business has been good at the South Boston location with “a lot of walk in traffic,” he said.
Customers can expect a friendly and inviting atmosphere when they visit DPC Pawn & Gun Shop.
“We want everybody to feel comfortable in the store. We take pride in customer service and competitive pricing,” he added.
