Halifax Regional Health System has announced the marketing department has received two Aster Awards, recognizing them for excellence in their advertising/marketing efforts for the calendar year 2011.
The Halifax Regional Health System marketing department, made up of Olivia Epps, manager, and Wendy Fuller and Alyssa Gavitt, marketing specialists, received a Gold Award in the Newsletter/External-Series category for their quarterly Life & Health newsletter which is mailed to more than 31,000 residents in the region. They share this award with Coffey Communications, Inc., a healthcare agency specializing in healthcare publications.
The department also received a Gold Award in the Pocket Folder category for their “Let us help you live a healthier life” folders used for various special projects throughout the health system. They share this award with Mary Hastings at Hastings Design Corp., a private graphic designer who has worked with the department for many years to create across-the-board branding materials for Halifax Regional Health System.
The Aster Awards received nearly 3,000 entries from across the United States, as well as Canada and South America. Participants competed against similar-sized organizations in their category. Judging criteria included creativity, layout and design, functionality, message effectiveness, production quality, and overall appeal.
To receive a Gold Award, entries must receive a score of 95 to 99 out of 100, and these awards represent the top 5 percent in the nation.
“Although our nation has been challenged economically, the talent of healthcare marketing professionals seems to be at an all-time high. The 2012 Aster Awards program contained some of the best advertising arguably in the world. The judge’s expectations were again surpassed,” said Melinda Lucas, Aster Awards program coordinator.
All winners are posted on the Aster Awards website, www.AsterAwards.com, as well as published in Marketing Healthcare Today, a national healthcare marketing magazine.
