New banners going up in downtown South Boston

Anyone traveling through downtown South Boston has seen the town’s new street banners that are going up this week.

“Destination Downtown South Boston works on promoting visibility and awareness and a healthy business climate for the small businesses that operate in downtown South Boston and on establishing downtown as a uniquely charming place that is a worthy destination for locals and visitors to enjoy,” said Destination Downtown South Boston Executive Director Tamyra Vest, adding, “and one that offers an enticing mix of shopping and dining with charming architecture, tree-lined streets and historic charm.”

One small thing that Destination Downtown South Boston strives to keep current is to extend a captivating invitation to visitors by having attractive street banners that are cohesive to their branding campaign.

Vest explained Destination Downtown South Boston recently applied for and received a Downtown Improvement Grant from Virginia Main Street with the Department of Housing and Community Development to purchase new banners and hardware.

They utilized design services from Frazier Associates in Staunton to develop accent colors to go along with the current branding colors they already have and developed four different colorful design banners - a Welcome banner, a Restaurants banner, a Shops banner and an Arts and Entertainment banner.

Vest invites citizens to visit downtown South Boston and check out the new banners adorning Main Street.
