The King, the Pelvis, or just simply, Elvis, all describe an American icon, Elvis Presley. His slicked back hair, the sway of his thrusting hips and that deep voice that can make even the most uptight woman swoon all helped catapult him into stardom.

Halifax Regional Hospital ‘Third Thursday in the Lobby’ set Feb. 21

It’s Mardi Gras season.  Want to have some fun?  If so, join Halifax Regional’s Healing Arts Team for its “Third Thursday in the Lobby” on Thursday, Feb. 21, between noon and 2 p.m. to celebrate the season.

Theater veteran, newcomer add punch to comedy show

 

Elvis may have left the building, but he left behind an entertaining group of folks scrambling to not miss a beat, pun intended. The ensuing hilarity involves two characters in particular who are very focused on their work:  Trudy, the Colonel’s no-nonsense secretary, and Jill, the pushy reporter determined to find some dirt.

Big crowd turns out for Bland Contest

Before an almost standing-room-only crowd, 17-year-old harpist Katherine Elizabeth Campbell of Danville’s George Washington High School and Caleb Anthony Flowers, a 15-year-old home-schooled countertenor from Clover, each took home $300 after winning the South  Boston Lions Club’s Annual James Bland Memorial Music Contest Friday night at The Prizery.

Elvis roams region offering chance to win play tickets

There has been a lot of talk lately about Halifax County Little Theatre’s latest project, “Elvis Has Left the Building.” It has become such an obsession with some local fans that Elvis sightings are beginning to be reported in various parts of the county. One report even has him posing for photos with admirers in South Boston.
