We all know the story of Cinderella.  We know about the stepmother and stepsisters, the prince, the fairy godmother, the ball, the lost slipper.  So what makes Halifax County High School’s production of “Cinderella” any different?

Irish group coming to Prizery

Comfort Systems USA, Jill and Ryan Garrett along with The Prizery present Caladh Nua at the Prizery Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Caladh Nua, is a tightly-knit, vibrant and staggeringly talented band with its origins deeply rooted in the southern counties of Ireland. Comprised of five versatile musicians and singers playing a wide selection of instruments — from banjo to fiddle, guitar to bodhran and tin whistle to button accordion — the band has captured the essential qualities of traditional Irish music and balanced them finely with an innovative contemporary flair.

Cinderella’s special friends

There are a lot of reasons that “Cinderella” is the world’s most told story.  It is the ultimate tale of the “rags to riches” girl and finding out that love really does conquer all. One aspect of this modern version of the story features sensitive animals that help Cinderella cope with her bad situation and sometimes help with her transformation.

Irish group coming March 8 to Prizery

Next up at The Prizery on Saturday, March 8, at 7:30 p.m. is the Irish group Caladh Nua.

High School theater department to present new version of stage classic

What do you get when you take the world’s favorite fairy tale, add two wild old Cajun women and maybe an alligator or two?  It would seem to be the most fun evening a family can have together. The Halifax County High School Theatre department is about to find out as they present a new version of “Cinderella” by Craig W. Stump. 

Every sport ever covered in Little Theatre’s winter comedy

“This show is absolutely hilarious and filled with all kinds of humor, from slap stick to witty quips to subtle humor; this play has it all,” said Director Mike Freshour.

Auditions for Summer Theatre 2014 slated for March 1 at The Prizery

Auditions for Summer Theatre 2014 will take place on Saturday, March 1, at The Prizery, located at 700 Bruce St. in South Boston.
