Auditions for Summer Theatre 2014 will take place on Saturday, March 1, at The Prizery, located at 700 Bruce St. in South Boston.
The Summer Theatre is looking for lots of local performers, young and old, to be involved with the fifth season of Summer Theatre, according to Artistic Director Chris Jones.
Those auditioning should follow the schedule as listed:
Everyone should prepare a memorized monologue and 16 bars of a song. Also bring a resume and current headshot.
Auditions will be held Saturday, March 1, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. for ages 8 to 12.
Auditions will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon for ages 13 to 18 and 1:30 to 5:30 for university students and adults.
Auditiners are asked to be prepared if asked to sing a song from “Hairspray” or “Les Misérables” and to be familiar with the material in from these two shows. Those auditioning may be asked to dance, so dress appropriately
Lead roles for local young people ages 10 - 15 include Young Cosette and Gavroche in “Les Misérables,” Little Inez and Seaweed in “Hairspray.”
It is suggested young people watch the ﬁlm versions of these two shows in order to be familiar with the material. Of course, seeing a live stage version would be preferable.
Rehearsals begin on June 2. “Hairspray” opens on June 19 and closes on July 5.
“Les Misérables” opens on July 11 and closes on July 20.
