Russian-born artist’s work on display

Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5 a reception will be held for Alla Parsons in the Robert F. Cage Gallery at The Prizery.  The reception is free and open to the public.

Parsons was born in Russia. Moving with the family from the mountains of Urals to the lakes of Karelia, she eventually appeared in the city of Saint Petersburg.

After Parsons received her Master of Art degree from Petrozavodsk State University, she completed all but the dissertation in history from the Russian Academy of Sciences in Saint Petersburg.

Art, not history, was her true passion. Parsons always expressed her emotions through drawing and graduated from art school attending it after her regular school hours.

She was teaching history in Petrozavodsk State and then English in a technical college in Saint Petersburg. She was also a certified guide in such museums as the Hermitage and Kizhi.

In 2000 she met the love of her life named Michael and moved with him to the U.S.

He inspired her and encouraged to become a professional artist.

In the United States, Parsons earned a bachelor degree and then a Master of Fine Arts Degree.

She now works in oils and mixed media, although in the past she worked exclusively in watercolors. She exhibits nationally and internationally, her works received awards and are in private collections across the U.S., Canada, Russia and Germany.

Her experience includes teaching public and private art classes.
