‘Cinderella’ opens Thursday

What do fairy godmothers, evil stepsisters and a prince all have in common — one beautiful young woman, Cinderella.

The story of Cinderella, one of the most iconic tales of ‘happily ever after,’ is being brought to life this summer at The Prizery.   The production runs on the Chastain Theatre stage at The Prizery beginning June 21 at 7:30 p.m., with additional shows on June 22, 23, 28, 29, 30 at 7:30 p.m., and 3 p.m. matinees on June 23, 24, 27, 30 and July 1.

All attendees of Thursday’s opening night performance are invited to the post-show Opening Night Gala which is free with a ticket from the opening night performance.  The gala will provide an opportunity to meet the cast and crew of ‘Cinderella’ and enjoy light refreshments.

In conjunction with the staging of “Cinderella,” the South Boston/Halifax Junior Woman’s Club will be hosting a “Tea with Cinderella.”  The tea will be held at The Prizery on Saturday at 1 p.m.  At the event will be tea treats, crafts and an opportunity to meet and take photos with the star herself, Cinderella.

“We are very excited to host this event to benefit The Prizery. This is something for the entire family to enjoy, and it gives children an opportunity to feel a real connection to the show by meeting Cinderella,” said Deitra Hart, president of the South Boston/Halifax Junior Woman’s Club.

“We are encouraging people to buy tickets in advance or come early because this event is sure to be very popular. Bring your little prince or princess out to enjoy the fun. The Cinderella Tea is casual, but children may also have fun dressing up too,” said Jamey Harris, co-chair for the event.

“We hope that everyone will stay to attend the matinee performance of the show which starts immediately following the tea. The set looks amazing, and the show is sure to entertain,” added Kim Powell, co-chair for the event.

Tickets are $10, and guests are invited to wear their favorite princess attire.
