NEWS

Progressive rock band Rush set to release their 20th album, “Clockwork Angels,” in June, have scheduled a 33-city North American tour beginning in September. Of the 33 cities, one stop on the fall tour will be at Time Warner Arena in Charlotte Oct. 30. A ticket on-sale date for Charlotte has not been announced. Also announcing upcoming tour dates is Train, who will kick off their “California 37” tour July 10 in Montreal. The trio will rumble through Charlotte’s Time Warner Cable Uptown Amphitheatre July 26, Raleigh Amphitheater July 27, Wolf Trap in Vienna Aug. 21 and the American Music Festival in Virginia Beach Sept. 2. Tickets go on sale April 28 at 10 a.m.

Van Halen tacked 18 new dates onto the end of its 2012 tour schedule, originally set to end June 26 in New Orleans. The group will kick off the second batch of shows July 7 in Connecticut and will stop off at Hampton Coliseum July 9. Tickets are on sale now.

The third annual Independent’s Hopscotch, a three-day music festival will take place Sept. 6-8, bringing 175 bands to 15 venues in downtown Raleigh. Intended to highlight the Triangle’s music scene by pairing exciting local talent with notable national and international artists, Hopscotch offers choices in just about every genre imaginable – rock, hip-hop, alt-country, metal, dance, punk, classical, noise, drone, folk and more. This year’s lineup will include The Roots, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Built to Spill, Yo La Tengo, Corrosion of Conformity and many, many more.
