Destination Downtown South Boston Inc. is presenting multi-genre cover/party band The Worx in concert in Constitution Square on Friday.
Highly popular in this and surrounding areas, The Worx is a variety band that stands out in a class of its own; their diversity prevents them from being typecast into any narrow classification. Are they rock? Are they country? Are they funk? They’re all of the above and more, and regardless of one’s musical preferences, their set list of over 250 songs offers something for everyone.
Each of the five members are consummate musicians, coming from different backgrounds of music. All are dedicated to bringing their own experiences, preferences and tastes to the band. Most of all, they are dedicated to showing their fans a good time.
“We listen to what our fans want us to play,” said founding member Steve Prusak. “And then again we pick songs that are hot on the charts and fit us to perform.
“We won’t do it if we feel we can’t emulate it well or people can’t dance to it.”
As part of The Summer Concert Series, The Worx will entertain from 8 to 11:30 p.m. with gates opening at 7:30 p.m.
Food, music and beverages will be available for the entire family.
Tickets are $10, and children 10 and under get in free with an adult.
Advance tickets are available a Avon, Caffe Peroni, Bistro 1888, True Value Hardware, Main Street Offices, McCollum-Ferrell Shoes, Heritage House Home Furnishings or the Visitor Center. Call 434-575-4209 or check out the town’s website at www.downtownsobo.com for more information.
