Training approval benefits jobless

The South Central Workforce Investment Board has approved the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center as a training provider for the Work Ready Foundations, a new short-term work readiness initiative. With this approval, eligible unemployed clients who enroll in Work Ready Foundations will have their tuition and fees paid for with Workforce Investment Act funds.

Beat the clock: Kickstarter campaign seeks $20,000 for The Prizery

Last year, Kickstarter surpassed the National Endowment for the Arts in the amount of money spent to underwrite “Art” projects in the United States.  The Prizery was one of those projects, raising $27,000 in 14 days using the online fundraising website.

Habitat breaks ground on 13th housing project
